You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

JOB SUMMARY

We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team designing our advanced robotics hardware. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet demanding technical, quality, and performance objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaborate with a small cross-disciplinary team of engineers
  • Participate in creative brainstorming for concept generation
  • Conduct engineering analysis to drive design decisions.
  • Compare concepts via iterative design, prototype, assembly, and test.
  • Detailed design of chassis structures, pivots, and bearings
  • Design optimization for manufacturing and assembly (DFM, DFA)
  • Perform analysis (FEA, etc…) to optimize and validate design
  • Create GD&T-informed drawings, a Bill of Material, and procurement documentation
  • Participate in pilot build of your design
  • Perform DVP&R to ensure design meets requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers on engineering fundamentals and best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across systems, chassis, actuation, and electrical engineering

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High Proficiency in advanced CAD design and analysis tools such as Creo
  • Strong understanding of kinematics, free body dynamics, structures (statics), dynamics, joints/mechanisms, and bearings
  • Experience with high performance, dynamic robotics applications and analysis
  • Experience with design for high volume production methods such as high pressure die casting, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and CNC machining.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet schedule, and quality targets on multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documentation, team collaboration, and stakeholder interaction.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Great team player able to perform within a dynamic start-up environment

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
  • At least 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering for robotics applications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
