You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Operations Leader to join our team and play a key role in supporting Robot Park, our humanoid data collection facility. In this role, you will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, improving processes and user experience, refining documentation, and supporting the Director of Robot Park. You will collaborate closely with the Product and Application Engineering teams to facilitate customer task exploration, partner with the Service and Support team to maximize robot uptime and data collection, and work with the Software team to ensure smooth system operation within Robot Park.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support for Director of Robot Park: Provide direct support to the Director in managing the day-to-day operations of Robot Park. Participate in meetings, help coordinate cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure alignment on priorities in a fast-paced, hybrid production and R&D environment.
- Process/Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve workflows within Robot Park to eliminate inefficiencies and increase productivity. Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization across all operations.
- Robot Park Task Exploration: Collaborate with the Product and Commercial teams to identify and prioritize customer use cases requiring testing and validation on our system. Document findings and develop clear, actionable reports for Apptronik leadership and the Commercial team to share with customers.
- Compliance & Safety Oversight: Monitor adherence to safety and compliance protocols, especially in the context of robotics, hardware testing, and shared workspaces. Report and help resolve any violations or near-misses.
- Facility Operations & Maintenance Coordination: Ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and operational. Coordinate with facilities teams and external vendors for maintenance, inventory management, and procurement of tools, parts, and consumables required for day-to-day operations.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Operational Excellence: Strong understanding of process improvement, workflow optimization, and basic Lean principles. Able to identify inefficiencies and drive solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working across departments (engineering, product, support, etc.) to coordinate efforts and align on shared goals.
- Project & Task Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Written & Verbal Communication: Clear and concise communicator, capable of documenting processes, writing reports, and sharing updates with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to gather and interpret operational data to drive decisions and process improvements.
- Initiative & Problem-Solving: Proactive, self-starting mindset with a strong bias for action and an eye for continuous improvement.
- Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a rapidly evolving environment with changing priorities and workflows.
- Familiarity with teleoperation and virtual reality equipment
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and ROS (Robot Operating System).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business Admin or a related field.
- Proven experience in field service or technical support roles, preferably in the robotics industry.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 25-45 pounds at times
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate
- International travel likely; passport required
- Travel up to 50% may be required
